Please reach us at support@muniratherapy.com if you have additional questions.

We provide culturally- and spiritually-integrated, trauma-informed individual counseling services to adult women and teen girls (15+) throughout Ohio virtually and in our office in Cincinnati. Counseling services are client-centered, based on your personal goals and unique life experiences. Sessions are offered in 50-minute increments. A free consultation of 15 minutes can help us access if counseling and our services are a good fit at this time. We will then meet over 1-2 sessions to get to know each other and help identify your goals for our work together.

Consultation

If you are interested in finding out more about therapy with me, you can schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation phone session to address questions you may have and see whether therapy with me would be a good fit. If if feels right, we will schedule an intake session and get started together.

Intake Session

Prior to our first session, you will receive a link to the client portal, where you can complete the intake paperwork. In your first session, we will explore what brings you to therapy at this time, and begin getting to know your background. I will ask questions to better understand your current challenges, history, and goals. Together, we will create a plan that feels supportive and aligned with your needs.

For clients interested in EMDR therapy, I will provide information about how it works and what to expect, and we will work at your pace. Some clients need more time to practice grounding skills, build safety, and trust, before moving on to processing.

Individual Therapy Sessions

Individual therapy sessions are 50-minutes in length. Clients who would like to invest in their growth typically begin with weekly sessions, and as symptoms or issues begin to improve, may continue reduce to bi-monthly, and eventually end therapy or continue for maintenance of progress on an as-needed basis. There is no "typical" length of therapy, and therapy success depends on many factors, including good fit with the therapist, consistency, effort and detail and persistence of issues addressed in therapy. With consistency, clients often begin to see results within several months.

My approach is informed by the understanding that the relationship between counselor and client is the most important aspect of successful therapy. I bring a client- and person-centered approach to our work, which means your goals, strengths, and your life vision guide and direct our work together.

In addition, I focus on the connection between the body and brain, with the understanding that trauma is stored in the body. Using somatic approaches and EMDR, I help clients get at the root of old patterns and beliefs and to replace them with grounded beliefs and practices to continue maintaining their wellness after therapy.

I specialize in working with adult women and teen girls (15+) on overcoming anxiety and healing from past trauma. I use a trauma-informed approach and specialize in using EMDR, an effective therapy for addressing trauma and anxiety.

I also specialize in culturally-competent therapy for Muslim clients and providing a space where your values are met with understanding and are included in the therapeutic process.

In addition, I have experience counseling people experiencing depression, grief or loss, navigating  life transitions, managing chronic pain, dealing with caregiver stress or burnout, experiencing perinatal and postpartum stress or anxiety, navigating parenting stress and family and relationship challenges.

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I cannot bill your insurance. What I can do is provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. If you are interested in going this route, I can assist you in checking your benefits.

All services are self-pay only. This means that you pay out-of-pocket for all services and I do not accept insurance. There are several reasons why I do not accept insurance at this time. The best and most holistic reason is in order to provide you with the best and most specialized therapy services tailored to your needs.

Working with me as a self-paid client allows for your privacy without the restrictions that insurance companies have over the process. This gives maximum flexibility over how often you come in, how long you come to therapy, what we discuss and how we work with the issues most important to you. Insurance companies require submission of a mental health diagnosis, which may not fit every situation and client. When you work with me as a self-paid client, your insurance company cannot access information about you such as mental health diagnosis, or other health information, unless you provide it to them via a Superbill or other documentation.

Another reason is to be able to offer you specialty care. I have trained in EMDR and other therapies that are highly specialized, in order to give you individualized treatment. This means I can spend more time crafting a custom treatment plan for you, as I am not limited to what insurance companies will cover.

Lastly, therapeutic relationship has been found in research studies to be the most critical aspect of successful therapy. Choosing an out-of-network therapist gives you the maximum ability to choose whom you feel is the best therapist for you at this time.

If you have excellent out-of-network benefits, you may be reimbursed for up to the full charge of therapy sessions. If this is the case for you, I can create a monthly statement, called a Superbill, with the information you need to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. You may also be able to use Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards to pay for billable services.
